The Importance of Managing People in Process Security
Abstract: Process Safety Management came to guide companies in the issue of prevention of major accidents, following Convention No. 174 of the International Labor Organization. It is divided into several concomitant themes that can be realized during the industrial production cycle. Of these, two stand out due to the impact during their implementation, being: Management of Change and Risk Management. In Risk management there is planning, identification, quantitative and qualitative analyzes, response planning and monitoring through various employable methodologies and appropriate for each type of company. In the risk monitoring phase, there is constant concern about stakeholders, due to the various risks of failure associated with their type of behavior. Through the management of people, the personality and talents for training definition are analyzed, elaborated by the department of human resources and psychology. However, in process security, this administration takes place through Management of Change, in which it coordinates all changes in procedures, people and facilities previously authorized by a multidisciplinary committee and the area managers. The objective of the article is to approach the management of people based on national and international literature on the subject. It is concluded that, although parameters are to be followed, there is also the difficulty of companies in putting leaders and managers able to analyze competencies and accompany the workers during the essential changes of the institution.
