Abstract

We conducted a comparative study of climbers taxa found in floristic surveys at four different areas of restinga forest (Bertioga, Ilha do Cardoso, Peruibe and Picinguaba). 159 species agruped in 84 genera and 34 families were found. In the Bertioga restinga forest, there are 26 families with 92 species of lianas in Ubatuba, 25 families and 100 species, in Ilha do Cardoso , 16 families and 33 species , and Peruibe , 16 families and 34 species. In Bertioga, Ubatuba and Peruibe, Asteraceae leads the ranking and at Ilha do Cardoso the positions are inverted. The main genus was Mikania, within 18 species, Dioscorea emerged secondly with eight species. Only six of the 159 species appeared in all locations:Condylocarpon isthmicum, Mandevilla funiformis, Mikania trinervis, Ipomoea cairica, Marcgravia polyantha and Cissus verticillata. The highest floristic similarity of lianas was obtained between the areas of Bertioga and Picinguaba (50%), followed by Bertioga and Peruíbe with rates above 40%; Ilha do Cardoso flora has shown the  lower rate of similarity to the other places from the littoral of the State of São Paulo, with rates below 30%. These indices appear to be directly related to the distance between the areas with the greatest distances exhibited low similarity, as we can see from Peruíbe and Picinguaba, in Ubatuba, with a rate of just 21.05%. The ANOVA one-way analysis has shown there are significant differences of the richness of families between the studied areas (p = 0.006762).
